Busan Film Festival Gets Prestigious A-List Status

The Busan International Film Festival kicked off its 10-day run on Tuesday with a major milestone: it's now officially recognized as an A-list festival by the International Federation of Film Producers Associations, joining the ranks of Cannes, Berlin, and Venice. The 31st edition features 247 films from 59 countries, with 95 having their world premieres here. This recognition also means the festival's top prize winner can now be submitted for Oscar consideration in the Best International Feature Film category.
Why It Matters
If you're into film or want to experience Korea's cultural scene, this is a big deal—Busan just became a major global player, attracting top directors and premieres you'd normally only see at world-famous festivals.
