Kaesong, historically known as Songdo, is celebrated for three cultural landmarks: Bangnyeon Falls (one of Korea's best waterfalls), Hwang Jin-i (a gifted female artist), and Seo Gyeong-deok (a Joseon philosopher). During a spring drought, carvings normally hidden by waterfall spray became visible, revealing historical figures like former governor Hong Sun-hyeong.
