Michelin Restaurant Fined for Serving Unauthorized Ants

A Seoul Michelin two-star restaurant owner was fined 15 million won for using imported ants as a dessert garnish without approval. Over four years, roughly 49,000 ants were served to over 12,000 customers, with the ants imported from the US and Thailand. South Korea only authorizes 10 insect species for food use—ants aren't one of them.
