MMCA and Tokyo Institute Partner on Korean-Japanese Art History

Korea's National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art is launching a five-year study with Tokyo's National Research Institute to examine archival materials about Korean artists who studied or worked in Japan from the 1920s onward. The collaboration will trace how these experiences shaped modern Korean art and cultural exchanges between the two countries. The Tokyo archives contain records on everyone from Korea's first Western-style painter Ko Hui-dong to contemporary figures like Nam June Paik and Lee Ufan.
