Pyongyang Bell: Korea’s Historic 12-Ton Masterpiece

The Pyongyang Bell, cast in 1726, is a 12.9-ton bronze bell standing 3.1 meters tall and designated as National Treasure No. 23. Unlike earlier Silla-era bells, it features two intertwined dragons and a continuous band of Eight Trigrams (palgwae) around its body. This bell represents a distinct evolution in Korean bell-making, showcasing centuries of refinement in metal casting and acoustic engineering.
