Seoul’s Royal Palaces See More Visitors But Less Revenue

Seoul's five major royal palaces and Jongmyo Shrine welcomed about 15 million visitors in 2025, up from 13.1 million the year before. Yet ticket revenue actually dropped to 11.4 billion won from 11.6 billion won, a first decline in five years. The reason: free admission programs expanded dramatically, with nearly 69% of visitors now entering for free compared to 63% in 2024.
