UNESCO World Heritage Committee Comes to Busan for First Time

South Korea is hosting the 48th UNESCO World Heritage Committee session in Busan this week—a major first for the country since joining the convention in 1988. Around 3,000 delegates from 196 states are gathering at BEXCO for a 10-day meeting to review existing heritage sites, evaluate 30 new nominations, and discuss conservation strategies. UNESCO Director-General Audrey Azoulay and senior officials are attending, making it the world's biggest international meeting on World Heritage matters.
