Today Chaos Story Two months before the wedding, it was just a quiet Sunday afternoon. We had planned to hand out invitation cards to close friends over coffee.
I had booked a spacious brunch café—easy access, stroller-friendly, just in case.
But things went off the rails over something small.
A rude barista. Unhelpful service. A mistaken order with no apology.
She froze almost instantly. “I don’t want to stay here,” she said.
But people were already arriving. One friend had her baby in tow, others were on their way in the rain. Changing venues wasn’t simple.
“Let’s just hand the invites quickly and move on,” I said.
We got through it with tight smiles. The real storm came the next day.
“I want to cancel the wedding,” she said quietly. “You didn’t protect me. In that moment, I felt alone. If I had been upset, I would’ve fought the whole café for you. But you chose convenience over me.”
I tried to explain: “There were guests. It was raining. We were out of options.”
But she wasn’t swayed. “I wasn’t looking for solutions. I was looking for you to stand by me.”
Outside that little café, it rained. Inside, I realized—this might be how love ends.
