Gaya Cultural Festival

April 30, 2026 – May 03, 2026
The Gaya Cultural Festival recreates the ancient Gaya confederacy that flourished in the Nakdong River basin before the unification of Korea, running four days in Gimhae (April 30 - May 3). The festival features historical reenactments of Gaya court rituals, ironworking demonstrations (Gaya was famed for iron production), traditional music performances, and exhibitions of Gaya-era artifacts. Gimhae is accessible from Busan via subway (Gimhae Light Rail) in about 40 minutes. It is one of the few festivals in Korea dedicated specifically to the pre-Silla Gaya kingdoms.

The Gaya Cultural Festival 2026 is a heritage-centered celebration honoring the legacy of the ancient Gaya confederacy. Through a series of cultural performances, historical reenactments, and educational exhibitions, the festival highlights the artistic and political significance of the Gaya period in Korean history.

Visitors can explore traditional craft demonstrations, musical performances inspired by historical themes, and interactive programs designed to connect modern audiences with Korea’s early civilization. The event aims to foster cultural awareness while providing an engaging community experience.

Running from April 30 to May 3, 2026, the festival offers an opportunity for families, students, and cultural enthusiasts to experience Korea’s historical heritage in a lively and immersive setting. The event is recommended for visitors interested in traditional culture and historical storytelling.
