Putting the king’s procession back on the road

The King Jeongjo Royal Procession Re-enactment takes place on October 4, 2026. The date is confirmed by the Suwon Cultural Foundation’s official notice. Seoul, Gyeonggi Province, Suwon and Hwaseong each stage a segment.

The original journey, in 1795, took King Jeongjo from his palace to his father’s tomb in Hwaseong. Some 6,000 people and nearly 800 horses moved with him, and the record is detailed enough that today’s re-enactment is reconstructed from documents rather than imagined.

⚠️ The Seoul segment has not been announced

The starting point, route and times for the Seoul segment are not yet published in the 2026 official information. The organiser’s page lists only the Anyang and Suwon segments.

Seoul’s festival calendar previously listed it as running from Gyeongbokgung to the old Siheung Royal Villa site, but that was marked as planned, not confirmed. Do not wait at a specific spot on the strength of the route written here.

How to see it

It moves along public roads, so there is no ticket — you watch from the street. Exact times by location are announced close to the day, along with traffic control. Check the organiser’s official notice before you go.
