A New Kind of BEETHOVEN Musical

This revamped production of the Korean original musical BEETHOVEN reimagines the composer’s final creative decade, centered on the years after 1810 when his hearing loss became irrevocable. The show doesn’t play Beethoven as a hero — it explores the rage, isolation, and paradox of a musician who can no longer hear his own work yet continues to compose his greatest pieces.

The Creative Team

Music is composed by Sylvester Levay — the Hungarian-Austrian composer behind some of Europe’s most celebrated musicals, including Elisabeth and Mozart!. His score weaves original compositions alongside Beethoven’s actual works, creating a seamless theatrical soundscape. The book and lyrics come from the Korean original production team, extensively reworked for the 2026 revival.

The Cast

Park Hyo-shin is one of Korea’s most beloved vocalists — a singer whose concerts routinely sell out within minutes. Hong Kwang-ho is among the country’s most decorated musical theatre performers, with major credits in Phantom of the Opera and numerous Korean originals. Both performers alternate the title role; check the specific performance date for casting.
