The wetland and reed bed area near the Hangang estuary in Banghwa-dong provides one of the most accessible migratory bird watching sites in the Seoul region. The location near the river mouth concentrates shorebirds and waterfowl during spring and autumn migration, and the reed beds hold breeding herons and egrets through the summer. The site is used by local birders who know the seasonal patterns and is almost completely unknown outside that community. The observation points along the embankment path provide clear sightlines over the wetland without disturbing the birds. Best visited at low tide in the early morning.
