The Garak Market complex in Songpa-gu is one of the largest agricultural and seafood wholesale markets in Korea, distributing produce across the Seoul metropolitan area. Public access to the retail and semi-wholesale sections is straightforward — the market opens from early morning and the retail halls are open to individual buyers. The fish market section in the eastern hall operates similarly to Noryangjin but without the tourist infrastructure, making it more functionally interesting. Early morning arrivals between 5 and 7 a.m. see the auction operations and the full volume of the wholesale movement. The surrounding food stalls serve market workers and function on that schedule.
