쌍미원 정원

📍 Yangseo-myeon, Yangpyeong-gun, Gyeonggi-do

Semiwon translates loosely as 'half mirror' — the name refers to the garden's central design principle: water pools so still they perfectly reflect the sky. The garden sits beside the Han River and was purpose-built around Korean water plants, particularly lotus flowers. In July and August the lotus blooms are extraordinary — fields of pink and white flowers opening at dawn and closing by noon, a fact most afternoon visitors miss entirely. The garden also features a traditional Korean pavilion walk along the river's edge and a separate ecological wetland zone. It appears on almost no English-language travel list. Admission is modest and the garden rarely exceeds comfortable capacity even on summer weekends.
