A cable car ascending Mireuksanseong Peak in the port city of Tongyeong delivers the single most panoramic view of the Hallyeo Sea archipelago, with islands stretching to the horizon in all directions. Tongyeong was the base of Admiral Yi Sun-sin and the underwater museum at the harbor documents the 1592 naval battles. The city is also known as the birthplace of modern Korean music through composer Yun Isang.
