Apgujeong Rodeo Back Gallery Row (압구정 로데오 이면 갤러리)

The main Rodeo strip in Apgujeong has been taken over by global brands, but the streets running parallel one block east and west still hold a cluster of small commercial galleries and concept stores. Several show contemporary Korean painting and sculpture with no admission fee during opening hours. The best ones change exhibitions monthly and attract a regular crowd of Gangnam art collectors who do not advertise the fact. Wednesday afternoons tend to be quiet enough to actually talk to the gallerist.
