The Wonseo-dong section of Bukchon Hanok Village sits on the eastern side of the ridge, away from the main Bukchon-ro tourist corridor, and preserves a quieter residential quality that the busier western approach has largely lost. The lanes here are narrower and the hanok properties more intact as working residences rather than converted guesthouses and cafes. The proximity to Changdeokgung's back wall means the upper alleys look directly onto the Huwon Secret Garden forest — a view available from few other street-level positions. The Wonseo-dong approach is best reached from the Anguk station side via the quieter eastern path rather than from the main Gyeongbokgung tourist corridor.
