Changgyeonggung Palace (창경궁)

📍 Changgyeonggung-ro 185, Jongno-gu, Seoul

The least visited of Seoul's five grand palaces, which means it is the most peaceful. Built in 1483, converted to a zoo by the Japanese colonial administration in 1909, and restored to palace use in 1983 after the zoo was removed. The botanical greenhouse from 1909 still stands — Korea's oldest Western-style greenhouse — and the palace pond and wooded hills behind the main buildings are consistently quiet. The 15-minute walk from Changdeokgung makes visiting both in a single afternoon logical.
