Chebu-dong & Tongui-dong Local Alleys (체부동·통의동)

The lanes running west from the Gyeongbokgung east wall toward Seochon are lined with small galleries, bookshops, and cafés operating from hanok buildings that have been renovated without losing their basic character. Arario Museum in Space operates from a converted dental clinic designed by Kim Swoo-geun; several independent galleries show contemporary work at serious quality. The whole area is walkable in an afternoon and consistently undervisited given how close it is to the palace.
