Dorasan Station in Paju is the southernmost station of the Gyeongui Line and the last stop before the inter-Korean border. The station was built with the intention of reconnecting the Korean peninsula's rail network; the line north of here stops at the border. Visiting the station — a day trip from Seoul requiring a tour permit and organized access — gives a specific understanding of the physical reality of the division. The Platform 1 sign reading 'Next stop Pyongyang 205km' and the empty tracks heading north have no equivalent anywhere else on the peninsula.
