The Euljiro district between Euljiro 3-ga and 4-ga holds the largest concentration of print and metalworking workshops in Seoul, occupying the ground floors and basements of a district that has been the industrial backbone of the city's commercial printing and signmaking industries since the 1970s. The basement bars and pojangmacha that serve the workshop workers have become one of the more interesting evening destinations in central Seoul — small, improvised, inexpensive, and entirely oriented toward the neighbourhood's working population rather than any designed bar concept. The interplay between the active workshops during the day and the bar scene in the same spaces after 6 p.m. gives Euljiro its specific urban texture.
