The market street running from Haengdang station through the Haengdang-dong residential zone functions as a local food and goods corridor for the Seongdong-gu residential population. The mix of produce vendors, small eateries, and household goods shops operates on a neighbourhood logic that is increasingly rare near the centre of Seoul. Several of the lunch counter operations in the covered market section have been running the same menu for twenty years or more. The surrounding streets hold several good independent Korean restaurants that do not appear in any food guide and operate entirely by local reputation and repeat customers.
