The Guksadang on the eastern slope of Inwangsan is Seoul's most significant active shamanist ritual site — a state-designated cultural property that has operated on this location since 1925 after being relocated from Namsan. The building and altar space are maintained by practicing mudang and ritual ceremonies take place throughout the year. The approach via the Inwangsan city wall trail passes through exposed granite formations that have been treated as sacred sites for centuries. Respectful visitors are welcome during daylight hours when no ceremony is in progress.
