Held each October on Jara Island in the middle of Cheongpyeong Lake, this is Korea's most prestigious outdoor jazz event and one of the few Korean festivals with a genuinely international lineup. The setting is extraordinary: stages set along the lakeshore with mountains behind them, the light going golden as the afternoon sets in. Korean jazz audiences are serious listeners — the crowd energy is focused rather than festival-rowdy. Day tickets are easier to get than full-weekend passes; the Saturday afternoon session consistently draws the strongest international acts. The island is accessed by shuttle from Gapyeong, and the festival grounds are compact enough that no stage feels remote.
