Seoul's oldest and largest traditional market, operating continuously since the Joseon era. Five thousand shops spread across several city blocks selling everything from fresh produce and dried seafood to wholesale clothing, kitchenware, and imported goods. The market runs 24 hours — the 4 a.m. crowd of restaurant owners stocking up is a completely different experience from the midday tourist rush. The gimbap and hotteok stalls near gate 5 have been in the same family for decades.
