The southern slopes of Namsan above Huam-dong hold a botanical garden and an open-air performance stage that are significantly less visited than the cable car and N Seoul Tower above. The botanical garden maintains a collection of native Korean mountain plants and provides a forested walk below the main summit without the cable car queue. The outdoor stage hosts summer concerts and theatre performances that draw a local audience from the surrounding districts. The descent toward Huam-dong through the forest gives views over the Han River and the southern residential districts that are not available from the tower.
