A genuine intentional community that formed around Mapo-gu's Seongmisan hill starting in the late 1990s, when local parents built a cooperative childcare center and gradually expanded into a cooperative bakery, restaurant, and cultural space. The village now includes a community currency, a cooperative general store, and a performance space. Walking the area around the mountain reveals what urban community organizing looks like when it actually works over two decades.
