Songdo Coastal Walking Trail (Songdo Haeansan-chaenggil)

📍 Songdo-dong, Seo-gu, Busan

Songdo Beach was Busan's first public beach, opened in 1913 during the Japanese colonial period, and the 1.6km coastal walkway suspended over the sea cliffs is one of the city's genuinely excellent engineering projects. The trail hangs 2-15 meters above the water on wooden and steel walkways bolted directly into the rock face, and at several points passes through sea caves. What most visitors miss is that the trail connects to a cable car (Songdo Ocean Sky Cable Car) on its western end and a less-visited upper forest path on the east. The beach itself has a retro quality because it's been overshadowed by Haeundae since the 1970s, meaning the cafes and restaurants nearby still cater to local families rather than Instagram tourists. Arrive after 5pm for lower foot traffic and better light on the cliffs.
