A small Buddhist hermitage nestled in the upper Suraksan valley, reachable via the Cheonghakdong Valley route through stone-step switchbacks and dense forest. Unlike the more visited Heungguksa complex lower on the mountain, Naewonsa sees almost no foreign visitors and maintains an atmosphere of genuine monastic quiet. The trail also connects to Bodukam hermitage, making a hermitage-to-hermitage ridge walk possible.
