Wirye New Town Cafe Strip (위례 신도시 카페거리)
The commercial strip along Wirye-daero in the Wirye New Town development — straddling the Seoul and Seongnam municipal boundary — has developed a compact cafe and restaurant district serving the young residential population of one of Seoul's newest planned neighbourhoods. The scale is smaller than the major Seoul cafe districts but the independent-to-chain ratio is higher than most new town commercial areas, and the residential density ensures consistent traffic. The tram line running along the main boulevard is one of the few functional street tram operations in the Seoul region. The surrounding apartment blocks were designed as a cohesive urban grid, which gives the area an unusually complete character for a new development.
