The Yeongdeungpo market complex near the station is one of the older functioning traditional markets in Seoul and supplies the dense residential and commercial population of the district's core. The underground sections beneath the main market building hold an older generation of food stalls and dry goods vendors that have operated continuously through the successive redevelopments of the district above. The surrounding Yeongdeungpo streets hold several long-running galbi and pork restaurants that serve the industrial and commercial worker population of the area rather than any visitor economy. The market is at its most active on weekend mornings.
