The narrow lane network of Yongmun-dong in western Yongsan-gu preserves a section of the neighbourhood's historical street pattern that predates the post-war urban reconstruction. The lanes are too narrow for vehicles and are used exclusively by pedestrians and cyclists moving between the residential buildings above. Several of the older buildings retain original tiled rooflines and masonry details from the colonial and immediate post-liberation period. The area is adjacent to the main Yongsan electronics district but operates on an entirely different urban logic — quiet, residential, and completely unoriented toward the commercial economy next door.
