Korean Tax Refund Guide

Foreign tourists can receive a refund of the value-added tax (10%) on items purchased in Korea. Refund Conditions: Foreign nationality. Stay less than 6 months after entry. Purchase over 30,000 won on the same date at one store. Departure within 3 months of purchase. Two Refund Methods: 1. Post-purchase Refund (Airport Refund): Request “Tax Refund” from staff at purchase → Receive refund documents (receipt) → Get stamp at airport customs upon departure → Receive cash or card refund at refund counter. 2. Immediate Refund: At some participating stores, pay the tax-excluded amount directly at purchase. No additional procedures required.
