Canola flower field at Guri Hangang Citizen's Park, Gyeonggi-do

Guri Hangang Park’s Canola Field in May: 67,600㎡ of Golden Flowers (Free Entry)

Just 30 minutes from central Seoul, Guri Hangang Citizen’s Park turns completely golden every May — thanks to its massive 67,600㎡ canola flower field, the largest in the Seoul metropolitan area. With over 320,000 visitors during the festival week alone, this is one of the most spectacular spring flower destinations near Seoul.

Why It’s Worth the Trip

The scale here is different. Unlike small flower beds in city parks, Guri’s canola field stretches along the Han River with an unobstructed horizon — yellow as far as you can see, with the river and mountains behind it. The combination of flat farmland, water, and sky creates photos that look like a scene from rural Jeju or Hokkaido, but accessible by subway.

As of May 2026, the flowers are still in bloom after the official festival (May 8–10). The blooms typically last through mid-to-late May, so there’s still time to visit.

How to Get There

  • Subway: Line 8 → Amsa Station, Exit 1 → Bus or taxi to 구리한강시민공원 (~15 min)
  • Bus: From Gangbyeon (강변역) → Bus toward Guri Hangang Park
  • Address: Guri-si, Gyeonggi-do (구리한강시민공원, 고덕토평대교 인근)
  • Hours: Open access (no fixed hours)
  • Admission: FREE

Tips for Visiting

  • Best light: Golden hour (late afternoon) for warm tones that match the canola color
  • Weekday vs weekend: Festival weekends draw huge crowds — weekday visits are much calmer
  • Combine with: The riverside walking path continues along the Han River toward Amsa — great for a full afternoon outing
  • Parking: Free parking available at the park, but fills up fast on weekends

About the Festival

The annual Guri Canola Flower Festival ran May 8–10, 2026 with cultural performances, food stalls, and photo contests. Even post-festival, the flowers remain open to visitors — it’s arguably better without the crowds. Organized by Guri City (구리시), the festival has been running for over a decade and remains one of the most popular spring events in Gyeonggi-do.
