Jungnang Rose Festival 2026: Seoul’s 5.4km Rose Tunnel (Free Entry + Insider Tips)
Every May, a quiet stream in northeast Seoul transforms into one of Korea’s most breathtaking free attractions — 5.45 kilometres of rose-covered walkway stretching from Mukdong Bridge to Gyeomjae Bridge along Jungnangcheon Stream. The 18th Jungnang Seoul Rose Festival runs May 15–23, 2026, and this weekend is peak bloom time.
What Makes It Special
228 varieties. 310,000 rose plants. Around 10 million blooms at their peak. The roses arch overhead on both sides of the path, creating a full tunnel effect that’s unlike anything else in the city. Entry is free, the park is open 24 hours, and LED lighting means the evening walk is just as beautiful as the morning one.
How to Get There
- Meokgol Station (Line 7, Exit 7) — 5-min walk, closest stop
- Junghwa Station (Line 7, Exit 4) — 10-min walk from the southern end
- Taereung Station (Line 6/7, Exit 8) — 3-min walk after crossing Mukdonggyo Bridge
- Car? Skip it. Parking during the festival is nearly impossible and traffic backs up badly.
Best Times to Visit
- 9–10 AM: Soft morning light, thin crowds, best photos
- 6–7 PM: Golden hour + LED lights kick in — the most atmospheric
- Avoid: Weekend afternoons (1–5 PM), when the path gets genuinely packed
What’s On During the Festival
- Rose Road Market: street food + craft stalls (11 AM–9 PM, May 15–23)
- Photo zones with rose backdrops (11 AM–6 PM)
- Live concerts and performances (May 15–17)
- Rose Parade (May 15, 3 PM opening day)
Pair It With
Yongma Falls Park — Asia’s largest artificial waterfall, just two stops away on Line 7. Good for a full half-day loop without backtracking into central Seoul.
