The Busan International Film Festival (BIFF) is Asia’s largest and most prestigious film festival, running ten days at multiple venues across Busan (October 1–10). Over 300 films from more than 70 countries screen annually, with a particular focus on new Asian cinema, international premieres, and emerging directors. BIFF attracts major industry figures — directors, producers, actors — alongside passionate audiences from across Asia and beyond. The centerpiece is the outdoor Biff Square open-air screening in Nampo-dong, one of the great movie-watching experiences in the world.
BIFF tickets are sold online through the official BIFF website, typically opening about 2-3 weeks before the festival starts. Tickets are affordable (around 10,000–13,000 KRW per film) but popular screenings sell out quickly. The festival publishes a full program in advance — international visitors can browse the English-language program on the BIFF website. Walk-up tickets are sometimes available on the day but cannot be relied upon for in-demand screenings. Major venue: CGV BIFF Hill (the main festival cinema complex), plus multiplex screens at Lotte Cinema and CGV in Haeundae and Nampo.
