Every Sunday from September 6 to October 25, 2026, Jamsu Bridge closes to cars and becomes a pedestrian deck over the Han River, linked to Banpo Hangang Park. Free, weekly, and the lowest-effort way to stand in the middle of the river.
Car-Free Jamsu Bridge runs its autumn season every Sunday from September 6 to October 25, 2026, on Jamsu Bridge and Banpo Hangang Park.
Jamsu Bridge is the lower deck of Banpo Bridge, sitting just above the waterline — low enough that it floods and closes when the river rises, which is where the name comes from. On festival Sundays the traffic is removed and the deck is given to people on foot, with programmes and stalls spread along it and into the riverside park.
Most Han River viewpoints put you beside the river. This one puts you on it, at eye level with the water, with the city on both banks and the bridge deck under your feet instead of a car. It costs nothing, it repeats weekly, and it fits into an afternoon between other plans.
Exact operating hours for each season are published by the city; check before heading out, and note the season ends on October 25.
