The Jarasum International Jazz Festival is Korea’s most beloved outdoor music festival, held on Jarasum Island in Gapyeong, Gyeonggi Province — a short river island accessible by foot bridge surrounded by the North Han River (October 2–5). Over three days, multiple outdoor stages host Korean and international jazz artists from mainstream swing and fusion to experimental and world music. The combination of autumn foliage, riverside setting, and high-quality programming has made Jarasum one of Asia’s most charming jazz festivals, drawing audiences in the tens of thousands each year.
Multiple stages run simultaneously throughout the day, so it is possible to move between performances and discover new artists. The festival has a relaxed, picnic-on-the-grass atmosphere rather than a packed concert-hall feel. Food vendors, craft stalls, and autumn riverside scenery make this a full day (or multi-day) outing. Tickets are sold for day passes or full festival access — popular headline concerts on evening stages sell out first.
