The Bank of Korea's main building on Namdaemun-ro is a neoclassical structure completed in 1912 that now houses a currency museum documenting Korean monetary history from ancient coin systems to the modern won. Entry is free and the permanent collection includes rare Goryeo and Joseon-era coins, early colonial-period currency, and documentation of the economic crises that shaped contemporary Korea. The building's interior — the original banking hall with its high ceilings and marble floors — is as notable as the collection. The surrounding Namdaemun financial district has several heritage bank buildings from the same era within a short walk.
