The hillside streets behind Choryang-dong near Busan Station have historically housed communities of post-war displaced persons and Chinese-Korean migrants, and several layers of that settlement history remain visible in the architecture and the commercial operations. The alley streets climbing from the main road hold dim sum restaurants, Chinese grocery shops, and tea houses that serve a community rather than a visitor economy. The summit of the hill gives a view over the Busan port container terminal — one of the busier ports in Asia — that makes the scale of the maritime trade economy immediately visible.
