Haenam's Ttangkkeut — meaning 'end of the land' — is the southernmost point of the Korean mainland, a rocky cape at the tip of the South Jeolla peninsula with a monument marking the geographic extreme. The approach through the Ttangkkeut Recreational Forest provides a forest walk above the Yellow Sea; the observation tower at the cape gives views over the island-scattered Dadohae Maritime National Park. The Ttangkkeut Coastal Road along the southern Haenam peninsula is one of the more scenic drives in the Jeollanam-do coastal area. The surrounding Haenam County holds the Daeheungsa Temple in Duryunsan and the Uhangri Dinosaur Fossil Site — one of the most significant dinosaur trackway sites in Asia.
