The 63 Building on the western edge of Yeouido Island was Seoul's tallest building from its completion in 1985 until 2003 and remains the defining silhouette of the Yeouido skyline as seen from the Han River. The observation floor at 60 stories gives the cleanest elevated view of the Han River basin from the western side — the full sweep from the Banghwa Bridge to the Dongjak Bridge with the Gwanak and Bukhan mountain ridges framing the basin. The riverside plaza below the building is part of the Yeouido Hangang Park and connects to the Han River cycling path. The building is most atmospherically visited during the Yeouido cherry blossom festival in April when the surrounding streets and the riverside are densely planted.
