Anseong Namsadang Performing Arts Village (안성 남사당 공연 마을)

📍 Anseong-si, Gyeonggi-do

Anseong in Gyeonggi-do is the historical home of the Namsadang — a travelling performing arts troupe of the Joseon period whose six arts (wind instruments, acrobatics, folk drama, puppet theatre, mask dance, and plate spinning) represented the most developed popular performance culture in pre-modern Korea. The Namsadang Nori is UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage and the Anseong Namsadang Baudeogi Performance Centre holds regular public performances of the traditional arts. The Anseong Matchum National Museum of Korean Folk Arts adjacent to the performance centre documents the full performing arts heritage. Anseong is accessible from Seoul by bus in about 90 minutes.
