Samnak Ecological Park in Busan's Sasang-gu occupies the Nakdong River floodplain at the point where the river approaches the sea — a 3.5-square-kilometre riverside wetland park with cycling paths, camping areas, and the natural reed bed and tidal flat habitat of the lower Nakdong. The park is one of the primary birding locations in the Busan metropolitan area; the open grassland and wetland attract migratory species in spring and autumn and resident egret and heron populations year-round. The cycling path along the levee gives an eastward view toward the Nakdong River mouth and the industrial Gangseo district and an upstream view toward the Gayasan ridge.
