The lake road circling Uiam Lake in Chuncheon — about ninety minutes from Seoul by ITX express train — provides one of the more scenic cycling routes in the greater Seoul day-trip radius. The circuit around the lake passes through forested lakeside sections and the Chuncheon city waterfront, with the surrounding Gangwon mountains visible above the treeline on clear days. Chuncheon is also the origin of dakgalbi — spicy stir-fried chicken — and the Myeongdong dakgalbi alley near the station has been operating the dish since the 1960s. The train-and-cycling combination makes a full day trip achievable without a car.
