Odaesan Woljeongsa Forest Path
The approach road to Woljeongsa temple in Odaesan National Park passes through a half-kilometer avenue of old-growth Korean fir trees — some over 500 years old and 40 meters tall — that creates one of the most affecting natural corridors in the country. Unlike the crowded Seoraksan trails, the Odaesan approaches stay genuinely quiet even on weekends because most visitors come only to the temple and leave. The serious trail — the 9km ridge walk to Birobong peak — starts just past the temple and is one of the most beautiful subalpine hikes in Korea in any season. The temple itself houses a National Treasure nine-story stone pagoda that is visually stunning and almost never photographed without context.
