Jarasum Island in Gapyeong, Gyeonggi-do, hosts the Jarasum International Jazz Festival each October — the largest outdoor jazz festival in Asia by attendance, drawing international performers and 50,000-80,000 visitors per day over four days. The island is connected to the mainland by a short bridge and the campsite character of the festival — with camping facilities occupying the island during the event — gives it a community atmosphere distinct from the larger Korean pop festivals. Outside the festival period, the island is a riverside park accessible from Gapyeong town and provides the closest natural island overnight camping option to Seoul.
