The Haebangchon and HBC area along the base of the Namsan ridge has the most developed craft beer scene in Seoul, anchored by a cluster of independently owned tap rooms and bars that opened through the 2010s and have maintained a consistent quality. Several bars pour exclusively Korean craft beers from smaller regional breweries alongside their own house recipes. The scene is more international in character than most Seoul bar districts — the foreign resident population of the area is significant — and the opening hours run considerably later than comparable areas. Best visited from 8 p.m. onward on weekday evenings when the crowds are manageable.
