The stepped alley streets of Ihwa-dong climbing from Naksan Park toward the Hyehwa neighborhood hold a collection of murals that have been repainted and extended over the past fifteen years. The most famous piece — the large cat mural at the top of the main staircase — has become a photography landmark, but the surrounding alleys have far more interesting individual pieces at street level. Evening visits after 6 p.m. are when the local residents use the streets and the light makes the painted walls visible without the daytime crowd. The walk connects directly to the Naksan city wall trail above.
