The Jungnang Art Center anchors a small cultural district where nearby streets in autumn are lined with traditional persimmon trees turning brilliant orange — a modest but genuinely beautiful local scene known mainly to residents. The art center hosts regular performances and exhibitions that are free or very inexpensive, giving foreign visitors rare access to non-touristic Seoul cultural programming. Persimmon trees are best seen October–November when the fruit ripens on bare branches.
